Jesus is Baptized

Luke Chapter 3

This wonderful story is found in the Bible in the Gospel of Luke Chapter 3. Repent, repent, all of you! The savior is coming very soon. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Come and be baptized in the River Jordan. Turn away from your evil ways and start doing good because God is near. God is coming!

My goodness, what is that man saying? Who is that strange man over there by the River Jordan? Ewww, he has long hair and it 's all matted! And he has a long, long beard. And what is he wearing? It looks like hair. Camels hair, burr from a camel and it's just hanging on him. Wow, he is strange.  C'mon let's go see him and see what he's saying. Let's get closer.

As my friends draw closer to the crowd they start talking to somebody. Who is that strange man? Well, his name is John but the people around here are calling him John the baptizer. Do you know what he does? Watch him. He's telling people to get ready to make themselves clean and good because Christ the Messiah is coming. He's taking them down into the River Jordan and he has them go down into the water. He totally covers them with water. And then he says "just as the water washes you clean, the Lord will wash you clean on the inside and take away your sins."

Look, there's a man, he's coming to baptize right now. But look he doesn't seem to want to baptize that man. He's talking to him. Oh, who is he? I have never seen him before. Oh, they say that is Jesus of Nazareth.  I wonder what He's doing here? Way out here, away from the city. He's getting baptized. John is leading Him into the water. Look! Look, listen. Did you see that? Did you see just what happened? A dove came out of heaven and rested just above Jesus' head. And did you hear the voice? I heard the voice. It seemed to come out of the sky from the clouds. It said "Thou art my beloved Son in thee I am well pleased." What could it mean? Does it mean that God is saying that Jesus is His son. Does God want us to believe that Jesus is the son of God? Wow, I want to believe! I want to know more. I'm going down there and talk to John the Baptist. You know, maybe he will baptize me and I can become a follower of Jesus.
